If you’re unhappy with the builder allocated by your insurance company – perhaps they’re taking too long or are unresponsive – you’re entitled to ask for a cash settlement and engage the builder of your choice.

This refers to immediate rectification works that are completed to make your property safe for assessors and contractors to visit and/or prevent further damage. This may include fitting tarpaulins to the roof or treating debris with an adhesive to prevent contaminants from spreading.

This will depend on the extent of the damage, the complexity of your claim, and access to labour and supplies. Once your Scope of Works is complete, either your insurance company or allocated builder should be able to provide you with a more accurate timeline.
